An ApplicationPeter's rebuke in ACT 8:20 was epic. But I find Simon very relatable for some of us. He recognized the validity of God's message, but old paradigms die hard. The Apostles could surely relate to that. Simon's response in ACT 8:24 to Peter's rebuke showed there was hope for Simon. We can all relate to Simon another way. Changes to our spending are always easier than changes to our heart, or our paradigms. But God wants our heart (1SA 16:7, PS 50:9-12).

Connect the DotsThis is a different Philip than JN 1:43-45, 6:5-7, it's the one from ACT 6:5. He wasn't personally there at MT 28:19, so ACT 8:16, while still curious, makes more sense. / Compare ACT 8:23 to JN 8:34 and RO 6:15-18. I wonder if this Simon ever went to Rome? Remember Peter's name was originally Simon (MT 16:17-19).
